Intuitive Eating Nutrition Counselling
Intuitive eating is a non-diet, evidence-based approach that supports rebuilding trust with food and your body. It moves away from external rules and restriction and instead focuses on eating in a way that is responsive, flexible, and grounded in both physical and emotional needs.
You may be coming to intuitive eating after years of dieting, food rules, or feeling disconnected from your body’s signals. Eating may feel stressful, exhausting, or overwhelming, and you may be looking for a way to support your health and wellbeing without returning to restriction or rigid expectations.
This support may be helpful if
You feel stuck in cycles of dieting, restriction, or food rules
You want to improve your relationship with food without focusing on weight
Hunger, fullness, or satisfaction cues feel confusing or unreliable
You experience guilt, shame, or anxiety around eating
You want nutrition support that feels flexible, compassionate, and realistic
You are looking for care that aligns with mental and emotional wellbeing
What intuitive eating is (and what it is not)
Intuitive eating is not about eating perfectly, eating only when hungry, or ignoring nutrition. It is also not about giving up on health or structure.
Instead, intuitive eating supports:
reconnecting with internal cues over time
reducing the influence of food rules and moralizing food
supporting adequacy, satisfaction, and nourishment
responding to both physical and emotional needs with care
This approach recognizes that eating exists within real lives, shaped by stress, routines, culture, health history, and access to food.
How intuitive eating is supported through nutrition counselling
Intuitive eating is a process, not a switch. Nutrition counselling provides guidance and structure while moving away from rigid rules.
My approach is weight inclusive and eating disorder informed. Our work together is collaborative and paced, with attention to both nourishment and lived experience.
Support may include:
Exploring the impact of dieting and restriction on eating patterns
Rebuilding trust in hunger, fullness, and satisfaction cues
Understanding how stress, sleep, mood, and routines influence eating
Supporting consistent and adequate nourishment
Reducing fear and anxiety around food choices
Developing flexibility and confidence around eating
There is no expectation to “do intuitive eating right.” The focus is on progress and responsiveness rather than perfection.
